55002
Recent work on 55002 has seen No 2 end roof section connected up and secured to the loco.  No 2 engine just requires the generator to have the insulators, brush boxes and brushes fitted.  New collector drum lagging is now fitted to both collector drums and the expansion tank was also fitted.  No 1 roof section had the gearbox fitted after it was repaired and set up to work correctly.  Work required on it now consists of fitting the drive shafts, repairs to pipework and fitting the last coolant radiator.

33063
33063 was lifted on Saturday 19th February and spent 7 hours in the air, to enable the change-out of a defective traction motor.  The Spa Valley Rly’s recently installed heavy lifting jacks (ex-Fastline) proving invaluable.  63 is also undergoing some light bodywork repairs in prep for a repaint, but will retain triple-grey.  Due out of works (Tunbridge Wells West shed) by the end March, the sector (decals) to which it will be ‘allocated’ will be revealed later, but it won’t be Construction!
