Mid Norfolk Railway Mixed Traffic Gala
The MNR held a very successful mixed traffic event between the 18th and 20th February.  Locos were used on a mixture of stoppers, non stop and freight/light loco movements, making use of the Thuxton loop to give an intensive service over the three days.

50015
Valiant is proving to be the stalwart of the ELR diesel heat locomotives.  The pre-heat system seems to have defeated the issues that other locomotives have suffered due to the very cold and snowy weather and the subsequent damp problems when the weather warmed up.  A couple of weeks ago we finally got chance to give the loco a wash, although this was not fully evident on the recent running day.

Work is progressing to fit the snow ploughs to the south end cab, however they have been a little reluctant to be fitted.  A battery charging system is being installed at the moment, which will give us the option of charging the locomotive off a mains supply as opposed to a specialist charger.  It should also help to conndition the batteries and prolong their life.

The air filters have also been renewed, with new material in all.  They hadn’t been done for quite a few years and were rather black with use.

50015’s next outing is expected to be during the gala on 5th/6th March.  The timetable and roster should be available shortly through the usual channels.
