09010
The restoration and return to full working order of  the South Devon Railway’s 09010 continues at Buckfastleigh.  The cab has been fully overhauled and missing parts replaced from spares donor 09002 prior to a full repaint.  The 09 has successfully taken power in both directions and moved within the confines of the running shed.  Power unit work and attention continues.  The rest of the loco’s internals are being deep cleaned prior to being repainted.  The work is being undertaken by the SDDT Group.

D8059 successfully under a loaded test run on the 23/01/11 within the confines of Kidderminster TMD using a dead 50135 as a dead load.  Unfortunately only one test run was possible due to the poor rail head conditions.  More extensive loaded test runs will take place over the next few weeks on the line between Kidderminster and Foley Park.

During January Arlington Fleet Services Ltd finished the bodywork and the locomotive has now been moved into the paint shop.  The first coat of primer / undercoat has been applied already.  Once the painting has been finished the locomotive will be moved back into the work shop ready for the transfers to be applied.  The windows and handrails, etc will be refitted at this time as well.  It is hoped the overhaul will be finished before the spring and the locomotive will then return to Swanage.
