Barrow Hill – 20 Years since BR left
Barrow Hill Roundhouse is staging a one day Diesel event to celebrate 20 years since BR vacated the Depot on Saturday 5th February 2011.  Opening times are 10.30 to 15.30.  The admission price is £10.

HNRC are making Class 09 09012 plus Class 20’s 096/107/121/132 available for use (all locos are subject to availability and are courtesy of HNRC).

DPS depot and the Roundhouse will be open for static viewing. The cafe, shop and museum will also be open.  The Class 58 LG will also be at the Roundhouse offering Cab visits and committee members will be on hand to answer questions about the restoration of 58016.

20059 and 20188
D8059 was delivered back to Kidderminster on Wednesday 19th January following completion of power unit and generator repairs.  D8059 will be the subject to a number of running in turns between Kidderminster and just south of Bewdley before being released into traffic.  20188 (D8188) will continue in service working engineering and other duties for the time being.  Once D8059 has been accepted into traffic, D8188 will be withdrawn from traffic for bodyside repairs and other essential maintenance before being repainted into a livery that it never carried whilst in BR service.

31162
A1A’s Class 31 No 5580 (31162) will be visiting the Llangollen Railway for a 21 month stay.  The Type 2 is due to arrive in North Wales in time for the Railway’s Spring Diesel Day on 26th March, which will also feature resident Class 26 D5310, Class 37 6940 and a DMU.  The loco will also star in other events at the Railway this year, see the Llangollen Diesel Group’s website for more details.

37403
Work has restarted on 37403’s power unit overhaul at Bo’ness.  The main bearings are currently being replaced.  It is hoped to reassemble the overhauled power unit over the next couple of months. Photos of the work being undertaken can be found here.

D444

Bodywork repairs continue at Cardiff Canton.  Bodywork repairs continue on D444 at Cardiff.  More body rot has been cut out below the No. 1 end air takes, considerable rot was apparent in this area!  The headcode box cutout panel has been welded in place at No. 2 end and the No. 1 end is tacked in ready for welding.  Further details and more photos of the work being undertaken appear here.
