Scottish Class 37 Golden Jubilee – Sunday 2nd January
The Scottish Class 37 Golden Jubilee on 2nd January at Bo’ness featured the much anticipated return of 37175 alongside fellow Bo’ness-based Scottish stalwart 37025, visiting 37906 courtesy of the Ruston 906 Group, 37685 from West Coast Railways and the stock-warming 37423 from Direct Rail Services.

Although the ambient temperature barely rose above freezing all day the event was extremely well attended – so much so that volunteers had to make a dash to the local supermarket to re-stock the buffet no fewer than three times, and an extra coach had to be added to the formation half way through the day.

All locomotives performed very well and 37175 made its jubilant return to traffic on the 1330 & 1430 trains after an engine overhaul that has taken almost two years to complete. The locomotive was started for the first time just three days earlier and had completed a single test run up the line on New Year’s Eve – a great testiment to the fantastic work carried out by members of the SRPS Diesel Group.

An evening photo charter featuring most of the 37s used during the day rounded off the occasion as temperatures plummeted into negative figures once again.
