Loco restoration news

The main generator was lifted from D5401 at the GCR on Tuesday 23rd November and sent away for overhaul to Bowers Electrical.  It is hoped the overhaul work will take about 2 months to complete, additional maintenance work is planned for the loco which will be done prior to a return to traffic.  Further details can be found on the groups’s website

Restoration work continues at Barrow Hill and the loco was started up yesterday following recent attention to the power unit.  Further details can be found on the group’s website

Work continues apace at Bo’ness to get 37 175 ready for the 2nd January 2011 Scottish Class 37 Golden Jubilee. Recent efforts have seen the whole of the B bank installed and work continues to install A bank.  The turbos have been overhauled and are almost ready to be reinstalled.

The bodywork restoration is progressing well and most of the existing  paint work has now been removed.  A Paypal donation has been set up to raise funds for the bodywork overhaul and repaint to help assist with the costs of the correct specification fillers, paint and vinyl’s.  Further details can be found on the loco’s website
