Anti freeze was added to the loco’s cooling system last Sunday allowing the Rat to remain operational during the winter.

31 235 was restarted on the 17th November for the first time in 18 months after a stainless steel header tank was installed by HTRS Ltd.

Recent work on 55002 has seen work on No 1 generator finished, including the fitting of brand new carbon brushes.  Attention will now turn to No 2 generator, this requires the same level of work as per No 1 generator.  The engine silencers have being away crack testing and welding.  Also 2 aluminium coolant pipes and 1 air breather pipe have also being welded and leak tested.  Work has started on No 1 roof section seeing repairs to the header tank and the underneath prepared for painting.

Galas and running days

37 109

37 109 normally based on the East Lancs Railway will be taking part in this weekend’s Cauldon Lowe Diesel Gala Extravaganza.

The North Norfolk Railway are running additional Christmas Shopping Park and Ride services this December, utilising visiting Class 37, D6737.  Free parking will be available at Holt station.  Trains will be running on Saturday 4th, 11th and 18th and will run Non Stop to Sheringham.  Departures from  Sheringham are 1010, 1145, 1315 and 1500.  Departures from Holt are 1045, 1225, 1400 and 1530.  Special fares will be payable, £6 per adult return, children under 16 are free.
